Livvinkarjala

The areas spoken by the Olonets Karelian (Livvi Karelian) dialects are or have been as follows: 

• Hyrsylänmutka in Suojärvi, Salmi, Tulemajärvi, Munjärvi, Säämäjärvi, Vieljärvi, Vitele, Kotkatjärvi, the surroundings of the city of Olonets (e.g. the villages of Nekkula and Riipuškala) and Konduži (Lotinanpelto). 

Olonets Karelian differs from Karelian Proper in many respects. One of the most noticeable is the transformation of the proverbial ends a or ä into u or y in certain cases.
